About Me
Consultancy: Overview & Approach
After fourteen years operating within design & engineer and six years as Lead Design Engineer at Marshalls PLC I chose to setup as a professional Design & Engineering Consultant in 2022. With a good work ethic and structured approach, I believe strongly in forward planning when looking for design solutions. I will always consider future and not just current requirements. I believe in a can do and positive approach and always striving for better. Just because something works does not mean it can’t be improved. Improving quality, efficiency, increasing output, capabilities and reducing all associated and hidden costs are always my primary goals whilst maintaining product aesthetics. I have always believed through simplicity you can create the illusion of complexity and a simple basis will provide the most potential to be easily configurable and customised for specific customer requirements. I believe subsequently in modular design, rationalising and limiting variants were possible but also accept and embrace some solutions and products are bespoke. Therefore, my approach is very open minded and believe in considering all aspects before arriving at a solution. Collaboration is critical and so is forming working relationships. To truly achieve the best possible outcome, it is essential to utilise the knowledge of those aware of or exposed to existing issues. Everyone’s opinion has equal merits and listening is fundamentally important. If you do not train hard, how can you be expected to perform well? If your cast foundations are inadequate, how do you expect your house to stand? If information is limited, how can you expect to arrive at the best design solution? Gathering the information which is often neglected can be one of if not the most important tasks when looking to develop effective design solutions along with a tight project brief. Attention to detail and highly methodical best therefore describe my general approach and way of working regardless of the challenge.
